I called LDS Membership records today and got through to them. I talked to a Tyler asking if my membership records were removed. He said nothing has been done on the local level, but it will be automatically done on Monday. He said I will receive a letter with just two sentences in it and then it’s all done! So glad to know. I know it shouldn’t mean so much to me, but it does!
The new Mormon church handbook is out and they’ve made some changes to their policies on Homosexuality. I don’t have much to say on the topic, but here is a link to the actual blog entry I found:
Mormon Church Changing Policies On Homosexuality
There’s also a copy of the handbook on the site I linked to.
Otherwise, nothing to update. No word on if they’ve removed my name from their membership records, even after I sent a second letter threatening that I’d seek legal action. I haven’t even received the confirmation certificate back from the letter, but it did say it was received when I checked the USPS website.
So far I have not heard from anyone in the LDS ward I used to attend. Don’t know if that’s good or bad.
Yesterday, I got a bunch of booklets from Utah Lighthouse Ministry to read. I sent for their freebies, through their website. It all looks very interesting.
Well, not much more to update on. I have open house at the school’s Virtual Campus tonight. Wish me luck! 🙂
Forgot I faxed a copy of my resignation to LDS HQ. I received a letter and a pamphlet from them, today. It has to be handled locally, first. *sigh*
“In view of the eternal consequences of such an action, the Brethren urge you to reconsider your request and to prayerfully consider the enclosed statement of the First Presidency.”
The pamphlet is titled, “An invitation to Come Back.”
It’s there. Just got the email from the USPS.
“Delivered : SALT LAKE CITY UT 84150, 10/12/10 11:01am”
Tomorrow should be the day that the LDS church HQ receives my resignation letter. Wondering how things will proceed from there.
I received a message from a ward member on Facebook. Even though I removed all the ward members and set it so no one but my friends could message me. I figure that if someone has a message from you in their inbox, they can still message you, even if you removed them! Anyway, she asked if I wanted a ride to some book club at some sister’s house at noon tomorrow. She also asked if she could come over and study Preach My Gospel with me next week. I didn’t respond. I don’t really know how or even if I should, since I did state that I didn’t want ANY contact with the church in my resignation letter! I know the bishop hasn’t received it and probably won’t for a while, though.
Anyway, I’m listening to the movie, God Makers right now. I don’t really watch TV, but I put it in my computer’s DVD player anyway.
“God doesn’t want your obedience, God wants your love. Servants give obedience, children give love. You are a child of God.”
For a Christian, the only requirements from God of His children, is to follow the 10 commandments, be baptized and partake of sacrament. So, I feel the above quote fits perfectly with me leaving the Mormon church.
I listed what LDS books I could on Amazon(ones that were worth selling), all my Bibles and Triples(and one Quad) on eBay and the rest I threw in a box for Craigslist to sell as a lot. I’m feeling some relief.
On another note, my resignation letter should be at the SLC HQ by Tuesday.
